The dates for Australian Open 2027 are locked in, with the season’s first Grand Slam tournament set for Melbourne Park on 11-31 January.

At AO 2026, 217,999 fans flocked to the precinct for Opening Week, almost double the number that attended during the same period in 2025.
At Rod Laver Arena alone, they came for the wildly popular AO 1 Point Slam Driven by Kia, the inaugural AO Opening Ceremony, Opening Week Showdowns and open practice sessions.
Across the precinct, they enjoyed watching the qualifying competition unfold, the making of singles draws – an event held for the first time at the Grand Slam Oval fan stage – plus the AO LIVE concert series at TOPCOURT and the annual Kids Tennis Day, which drew almost 30,000 fans.
Main-draw action at AO 2027 begins 17 January, marking the tournament’s fourth straight Sunday start and a scheduling change that has proved a boon for fans.
Day 1 of the main draw at AO 2026 attracted more than 100,000 fans to Melbourne Park – at that point a tournament record – where top seeds Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka began their campaigns.
Both went all the way to the singles finals, which in 2027 will be held on 30 and 31 January.
Ultimately, more than 1.3 million fans came through the gates at AO 2026 for what has become the world’s biggest annual sport and entertainment event in January.
