The most exciting grassroots to Grand Slam event is back, with the million-dollar AO 1 Point Slam powered by Haier returning bigger than ever at Australian Open 2027.
Defending AO champion Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka and World No.1 Jannik Sinner have all signed up to play, with the one-point, winner-takes-all format taking over Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday 13 January, offering pros, community players and wildcards the chance to compete for a $1 million prize on Australian tennis’ biggest stage.
Over the next two months, up to 1000 clubs will run local AO 1 Point Slam competitions as tennis players try and win their way through to the AO 1 Point Slam State Championships taking place across the country. Two winners from each state and territory will compete during AO Opening Week and be treated to an exclusive money can’t buy player experience.
"The AO 1 Point Slam is unlike anything else in world sport," Chief Tennis Officer Tom Larner said.
"It creates an opportunity for grassroots tennis players to share the spotlight with some of the biggest names in the game and delivers a level of excitement that only the Australian Open can provide.
“Having stars like Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka and Jannik Sinner locked in to play, alongside everyday Australians qualifying via local competition and through State Championships, captures exactly what this event is about, bringing people together through tennis in an exciting and inclusive way.”
The eventual champion will raise the signature AO 1 Point Slam trophy crafted from Australian silver, and designed and created by ABC Bullion, the Official Trophy and Precious Metals Partner.
The appeal of the AO 1 Point Slam is evident in the strong support from leading brands, which are helping create a memorable and rewarding experience for all participants, whether from local tennis clubs or on the world stage in the final at Rod Laver Arena.
- Haier: As global presenting partner of the 1 Point Slam will provide three lucky clubs hosting a 1PS with new appliances to support grassroots tennis. The last amateur standing in the 1PS final wins a home appliance package.

YoPRO will also have a presence at selected State Championships, further connecting the brand with high-performance tennis, the sport’s biggest personalities and the next generation of talent.
- Dunlop, the Official Tennis Ball of the Australian Open, Summer of Tennis and AO 1 Point Slam.
