John Cain Arena (JCA) has become a fortress for Australian players.
Known as 'The People's Court' given its accessibility to ground pass ticket holders, and with a capacity of 10,000 spectators, the atmosphere inside JCA can be electric, and this often spurs on Aussie stars.

Combining the win-loss records of active Australian players who have competed in singles at JCA, the number is 34-23 – a winning percentage of nearly 60 per cent.
Here are the six Australians who have best capitalised on John Cain Arena's home-court advantage.
Nick Kyrgios
JCA singles record: 12 wins, 3 losses
John Cain Arena has been the premier site for Kyrgios and his success at the Australian Open.
With an 80 per cent winning record at the place he wants to rename ‘Kyrgios Court’, the former world No.13 thrives amid an atmosphere in which opposing players no doubt find challenging.

Kyrgios’ most memorable match at the venue was his third-round thriller against 16th seed Karen Khachanov at Australian Open 2020, where his reaction post match told the story.
Four hours and 26 minutes of exuberant crowds and entertaining tennis made this match an instant classic.
The Aussie will return to the Australian Open for the first time in three years; expect Kyrgios to put on a show should he return to JCA.
Alexei Popyrin
JCA singles record: 5 wins, 1 loss
Matches at John Cain Arena have not come easy for Popyrin; four of his six encounters at the venue have come against Grand Slam semifinalists.
His biggest triumph came against Taylor Fritz in 2023, a four-hour, five-set battle that had the crowd in raptures as Popyrin won his fourth career match against a top-10 opponent.
After a breakout season in 2024, the 25-year-old could headline more matches at John Cain Arena during Australian Open 2025 as he looks to further solidify his status as one of tennis’ next stars.
Bernard Tomic
JCA singles record: 5 wins, 1 loss
As Lleyton Hewitt entered the twilight of his career, Tomic was firming as Australia’s next star, and his record at JCA reflects this.
The former world No.17 won his first five matches at the venue, dating back as far as 2011.

These matches formed the foundation of Tomic’s success at Melbourne Park; at AO 2015 he won two matches at John Cain Arena en route to a fourth-round showing.
Alex de Minaur
JCA singles record: 4 wins, 1 loss
It makes sense that the nation's No.1 features on a list that involves the best-performing Aussies.
And De Minaur has risen to the occasion when competing at this venue.
Besides a four-set loss to Tomas Berdych in 2018, De Minaur is undefeated at John Cain Arena, winning his past four encounters.
In that span he only dropped just one set, to Adrian Mannarino in the second round of Australian Open 2023.
Daria Saville
JCA singles record: 2 wins, 1 loss
John Cain Arena has been a dramatic venue for Saville, with all three of her matches going the distance. However, she still maintains a winning record.
The former world No.20 has an average match time of two hours and 41 minutes in JCA matches.
Saville's first-round loss to Magdalena Frech at AO 2024 lasted three hours and 13 minutes – the fourth-longest women's match at the Australian Open since 2016.
That marked her first appearance at John Cain Arena since 2017, and although she lost that encounter, her greatest triumph there was also lengthy.
Eight years earlier, Saville prevailed against 28th seed Kristina Mladenovic to achieve her first fourth-round berth at a Grand Slam, winning the final set 11-9 in 96 minutes.
Ajla Tomljanovic
JCA singles record: 2 wins, 1 loss
Tomljanovic is one of eight active Australians who holds a winning record at John Cain Arena, but joins this list as one of six who have achieved such a record with multiple appearances.
Although only playing three matches at the venue throughout her career, the former world No.32 played both of her matches at the arena at AO 2024.
After a knee injury sidelined Tomljanovic for AO 2023, the 31-year-old triumphed 7-6(3) 4-6 6-4 over Petra Martic to win at Melbourne Park for the first time in three years.
In her JCA debut at Australian Open 2021, she beat Misaki Doi to reach the second round.
