Australian Open 2025 qualifying entry lists released

  • ausopen.com

The entry lists for the Australian Open 2025 qualifying event feature former top-30 players, Australian hopefuls, rising stars and a two-time major champion all vying for a place in the main draw.

They’re among the 128 men and 128 women who will compete at Melbourne Park from 6-9 January – players you can watch bidding to qualify as part of Opening Week presented by Herald Sun.

Final-round qualifying matches will play out on Thursday 9 January, determining the 16 men and 16 women who secure main-draw places at AO 2025.

World No.82 Alycia Parks, a third-round finisher at this year’s AO, heads the women’s qualifying entry list.

At the AO 2025 main-draw entry deadline of 2 December, Parks was ranked 103rd – therefore falling outside the ranking cut-off – but vaulted almost 20 places after winning that week’s WTA 125K event in Angers, France.

Parks is joined in the field by former world No.1 Simona Halep, the 2018 Roland Garros and 2019 Wimbledon champion who has been awarded a qualifying wildcard.

"The thought of returning to Australia after three years is exciting and I'm very grateful to the tournament for this opportunity. I have been working hard to get ready for the 2025 season,” said Halep, the AO 2018 runner-up.

“The Australian Open has provided me with some of the best moments in my career, so I can't wait to be back in Melbourne and playing in front of the Aussie fans.”

Parks, Viktorija Golubic and Nuria Parrizas Diaz are the three top-100 ranked women listed to compete in qualifying.

The men’s qualifying entry list is led by world No.100 Federico Coria of Argentina, and also features young guns Learner Tien, Luca Van Assche and Joao Fonseca – all competing at this week’s Next Gen ATP Finals.

There are more names on the men’s list that also leap out. These include 2023 Wimbledon quarterfinalist Christopher Eubanks, former world No.21 Dan Evans and a pair of former world No.17s in Cristian Garin and Bernard Tomic.

Tomic is joined on the entry list by fellow Aussies Alex Bolt and Jason Kubler, plus local wildcard recipients Marc Polmans, Dane Sweeny, Matthew Dellavedova, Hayden Jones, Blake Ellis, Eddie Winter, Pavle Marinkov and Cruz Hewitt.

The women’s entry list features six local hopes – Kimberly Birrell, Arina Rodionova, Priscilla Hon, Taylah Preston, Destanee Aiava and Maddison Inglis – plus a further seven wildcards in Astra Sharma, Tina Smith, Petra Hule, Melisa Ercan, Elena Micic, Lizette Cabrera and Jamie Fourlis.

This means 24 Australian players are set to compete in AO 2025 qualifying.

Qualifying wildcards have also been awarded to Australian Open 2024 junior singles champions Rei Sakamoto of Japan and Slovakia’s Renata Jamrichova.
