The fourth edition of the United Cup marks the beginning of the 2026 tennis season – and the start of a thrilling summer of tennis in Australia in January.

With Perth and Sydney serving as dual host cities, the United Cup will feature 18 countries battling it out for glory in a mixed-team format. Poland, represented by Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz, is the first country confirmed to participate.

Two days after the United Cup begins, the Brisbane International kicks off at the Queensland Tennis Centre, with the 2026 edition set to feature women’s superstars Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina.

Playing out across the same dates is the Canberra International, a Challenger-level event on both tours featuring uniquely strong draws for a tournament of its category.

Last year, Brazilian phenom Joao Fonseca won the men’s title, foreshadowing a breakout result at the Australian Open where he stunned top-10 star Andrey Rublev in the first round.

Attention then turns to the Adelaide and Hobart Internationals, which coincide with AO Opening Week at Melbourne Park.

Defending champion Madison Keys will return to The Drive, where last year her winning week at the Adelaide International preceded her fairytale run to the Australian Open 2025 title – her first Grand Slam trophy.

British star Jack Draper will join Keys at the Adelaide International, for which tickets are on sale now.

Further south in Hobart, another strong women’s field is expected to assemble for the long-running WTA 250 event.

Since its inaugural edition in 1994, an impressive list of names has been etched onto the trophy, including Grand Slam champions Kim Clijsters, Petra Kvitova, Garbine Muguruza, Sofia Kenin and Elena Rybakina.

These five events offer players valuable match-play and confidence ahead of the Australian Open, where main-draw action kicks off on Sunday 18 January at Melbourne Park.

Additional ITF tournaments, plus wheelchair and junior competitions, will also take place ahead of the Australian Open and during the month of January.
