AO StartUps spotlight: Electrokare

  • ausopen.com

Hydration and recovery are crucial to every tennis player’s performance during the summer of tennis as they strive to string together multiple wins and push their way deep into each tournament.

As part of AO StartUps, Electrokare will pilot a new platform for athletes to monitor their health by generating personalised electrolyte insights from their existing wearables.

The US startup leverages hardware together with an ECG like Apple Watch, Samsung Watch, Polar Strap Garmin, and others to establish correlations to electrolyte levels providing both the levels and actionable insights on exactly what to do.

"Electrolytes are the foundation of both health and performance,” said Electrokare Co-Founder Mitchell Leshchiner.

“Athletes and individuals who care about their levels show immense differences in life and health quality. We provide the quantification layer of electrolytes, just how Whoop did with sleep.”

Previous solutions to track electrolytes and key biomarkers have been expensive and invasive but Electrokare changes the game with a readily available and easily accessible solution.

“We are always looking for marginal gains to improve our athlete’s performances and through this pilot we can gain valuable insights to help their hydration, recovery and overall health,” said Tennis Australia’s Applied Science Manager & Senior Physical Performance Coach Alistair Murphy.

The full cohort of AO StartUp companies will be announced in the leadup to AO 2025.
