Originally designed to provide daily behind the scenes insights during the Australian Open, the podcast has continued to evolve and expand its coverage, becoming a year-round weekly show since the end of Australian Open 2022.
The AO Show features interviews with players and coaches, analysis by tennis experts, and on-location coverage from the four Grand Slams and the tour’s biggest events. Tennis experts that feature regularly include Todd Woodbridge, Casey Dellacqua, Nicole Pratt, Wally Masur and Simon Rea.
“The AO Show has become a must listen for tennis fans both locally and overseas,” Tennis Australia Head of Original Content Xavier Muhlebach said.
“It’s been great to see that interest in the show extends well beyond a few weeks in January to all year round, and the number of listeners continues to grow rapidly each year.
“Just like the AO itself, the podcast doesn’t take itself too seriously – it isn’t afraid to push boundaries or look on the lighter side of tennis, which has proven popular with guests and listeners alike.”
The AO Show recently added a second weekly episode to the program called The Sit-Down. It features an in-depth interview each week with an influential figure in the sport including current and former players, coaches, officials and organisers.
The AO Show Weekly is hosted and produced by Jon Hoevenaars, while The Sit-Down is hosted by Australian Tennis Magazine editor Viv Christie and ausopen.com's Matt Trollope.
The AO Show is available on all major podcast platforms. The 200th episode will be released on Wednesday 24 April 2024.
