South African born executive chef, Duncan Welgemoed, is currently one of Australia’s most sought after culinary talents and owner of highly popular South Australian eatery, Africola.
From sharpening his craft in the UK at Michelin Star restaurants The Goose at Britwell Salome and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Welgemoed relocated to Adelaide to co-found acclaimed restaurant, Bistro Dom.
Bistro Dom received a string of accolades, including Australia’s Hottest Restaurant in South Australia, a listing in Gourmet Traveller’s Top 100 and crowned The Advertiser’s Chef of the Year (2013), with Welgemoed branching out to open Africola in 2014.
