Britain’s top padel pair secure historic trifecta down under

Aimee Gibson and Catherine Rose have achieved an extraordinary milestone, securing their third consecutive Padel title in Australia with a commanding victory at the Red Bull Rally Pro Women’s Doubles Final.

Following their wins earlier in the year at the Australian Padel Open and the Melbourne Padel Open, the pair continued their dominant run, defeating Jessica Brycki (AUS) and Pascalle Thenoux (CHI) 4-1, 4-2 to claim the championship.

This hat-trick cements their status as one of the sport’s most exciting partnerships, and one which has propelled Gibson into the world's top 100, a significant rankings milestone and the first British woman to do so.

“Winning Sydney was unexpected, and we were absolutely buzzing,” said Rose.

“Then in Melbourne, we played freely, with nothing to lose, and surprised ourselves again. To win here at the Red Bull Rally Pro is the perfect ending to an unbelievable trip.”

The pair's progress through the tournament was testament to their skill and teamwork.

After defeating Alexia Dalley (AUS) and Nerea Guerra Santana (ESP) in Round 2 4-1, 4-0 and edging out Constanza Kokorelis (CAN) and Kotomi Ozawa (JPN) in a thrilling Round 3 battle 4-2, 2-4, 7-4, they saved their best for the final, where they captured the inaugural title with a dominant display.

“We’ve only just started playing together, so to win all three is crazy. These results have done so much for our confidence and rankings,” said Gibson.

“Moving into the top 100 is a dream come true and starting the year like this has set us up perfectly for the season ahead.”

Having made the swap from tennis to padel mere years ago, the pair are both passionate advocates for the sport.

“Padel is so sociable and beginner friendly. The community is welcoming, and it’s easy to pick up,” said Rose.

“You can have a great game with players of all levels. Just find a local club, start playing, and you’ll love it.”

Gibson echoed her partner’s sentiments.

“With apps to match you with players at your level and amazing coaches around the world, it’s never been easier to start. It’s a sport where anyone—no matter their age or experience—can have fun rallying.”

Looking ahead to 2025, the pair are determined to build on their early-season success. Aimee is targeting a place in the top 75, while Catherine has her sights set on breaking into the top 100 and competing in Premier Padel events by year’s end.

Both players are focused on continuing their growth, learning from every match, and taking their partnership to new heights.
