The Australian Open has joined forces with SafetyCulture, with the innovative Australian tech company coming on board as Official Workplace Operations Partner.

“SafetyCulture has been in our corner for several years now, supporting our operations team behind-the-scenes at the Australian Open,” Tennis Australia Chief Event Officer Alex Hamilton said.

“Tennis Australia shares SafetyCulture’s passion for technology and innovation, so teaming up officially is a smart step that will positively impact our team and fans. Together we’re working towards a seamless, safe and enjoyable AO.”

Tennis Australia has used SafetyCulture’s technology for a wide range of operational activities since 2017, with the company’s flagship iAuditor app used to streamline processes including inspecting seating, catering and other equipment, along with general safety checks. This has enabled staff to complete more than 1,500 inspections since late 2020.

The user-friendly EdApp is also being implemented across several functional areas for AO 2022, most notably providing additional online training for the 300+ AO ballkids and retail staff.

“The Australian Open is Australia’s largest and most successful international sporting event, watched by over one billion people worldwide,” CEO of EdApp, the training arm of SafetyCulture, Darren Winterford said.

“It takes incredible teamwork and considered operations to pull off such a feat. As the official Workplace Operations Partner for the Australian Open we’re ready to help Tennis Australia meet their AO2022 vision and reach even bigger goals.”
