Australian Open 2024 serves up culinary delights

Australian Open 2024 will once again delight the taste buds, with an incredible culinary line-up from some of the country’s most exciting restaurants and bars on offer.

Fans will be hard pressed to choose between the delicious offerings served up across the precinct, with many favourite household names returning alongside a variety of new names.

“We can’t wait for fans to experience the fantastic menu of food and drinks on offer at AO 2024,” Tennis Australia Chief Commercial Officer Cedric Cornelis said.

“Whether it’s fresh focaccia from the Italian-style marketplace, a decadent brunch in Bar Atrium, non-alcoholic cocktails at the new AO Courtside Bar or a signature Peach Melbourne soft serve on a hot day – there will be something for all tastes at Australian Open 2024.” 

Situated in one of the most picturesque spots in the precinct with views of the Yarra River and city skyline, the popular Bar Atrium will return in 2024 and expand to serve up Melbourne’s favourite meal – brunch – which fans can pre-book to experience. The three-course Bar Atrium Brunch will feature Lebanese-inspired mezze dishes curated by talented Melbourne chef Tom Sarafian, served alongside cocktails created by The Everleigh.

As the sun sets, the Bar Atrium’s ‘After Eight’ experience will transform into the go-to destination for the social set, with an exceptional selection of bar snacks by Safarian and signature cocktails available. Fans can indulge as they take in the tennis action on the big screens against the backdrop of the unparalleled views of Melbourne’s city skyline.

CALENDAR: Australian summer of tennis set for 2024

Another brand-new offering is the AO Courtside Bar – where fans can embrace the thrill of tennis with open-air-front-row seats, while enjoying some delicious bar bites by Sydney chef Joel Bennetts from Bondi Beach’s Fish Shop, paired with AO’s signature non-alcoholic cocktail served in sustainable re-useable cups.

Firm fan favourites Rockpool Bar and Grill, Penfolds’ Restaurant and Stokehouse are all returning with their elevated premium dining experiences. The hugely popular Rod Laver Arena restaurant and bar Superboxes by Shane Delia’s Maha and renowned Melbourne cocktail bar Nick and Nora’s are also back.

Fusion Feast will bring the heat to John Cain Arena with a talented line-up of chefs dishing up a vibrant pan-Asian feast. Guests can explore food stations featuring dishes from some of Melbourne’s top chefs and restaurants including Ross Magnaye from Serai, Jessi Singh from Daughter In Law, Diana Chan, Kantaro Okada from Hareruya Pantry, and Scott Lord from Moonhouse.

Garden Square will feature a European marketplace with a variety of mouth-watering offerings from some of Melbourne’s best-known Italian eateries.

Nearby, fans can enjoy sipping champagne at the glamorous Piper-Heidsieck Bar which will return to RLA Terrace.

The Western Courts will feature two of Melbourne’s trailblazing young chefs – Frankie Cox and Charlie Carrington. Cox will bring her hugely popular salad bar Green-On to the AO, offering fans nourishing and tasty salad bowls and loaded sweet potato fries, while Carrington’s Little Havana will be serving up delicious Cuban sandwiches.

The AO’s signature Peach Melbourne dessert is back by popular demand after a hugely successful debut at AO 2023. The delicious mix of peach, raspberry and soft serve will be a go-to for tennis fans to cool down on warm summer days.

Andrew McConnell’s Melbourne staple Morning Market will offer high-quality coffee, sandwiches and bakery items on Grand Slam Oval, which will celebrate Australia’s rich multiculturalism with a diverse lineup of food and beverage offerings to be announced shortly.
