The answer to that question would be none other than the Australian Open, according to the more-than-14,000 employees who help deliver the year’s first Grand Slam tennis event.

Applications are now open to apply for roles to work at Australian Open 2026, closing at 11pm AEST on Sunday 13 July. Some roles may close early, so get your application in quick.

The AO workforce ensures truly memorable moments for players, patrons and fans, and the exciting nature of the various roles sees many staff return to the AO year after year.

Yet there are several opportunities and openings for new people to join the team this summer and be a part of the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest sporting and entertainment event.

Australian Open 2026 will light up Melbourne Park from 12 January to 1 February.

More than 800 players – competing across more than 20 events – plus more than one million fans are expected to come through the gates during three thrilling weeks of Grand Slam action.

A tournament of such scale requires great team members working throughout many areas – think ballkid operations, court services, the transport fleet, statisticians and scoring, hospitality and retail jobs, customer support, accreditation and uniform collection plus the many player-facing roles – to help deliver a truly amazing event.
