AO StartUps spotlight: Danu

Bringing movement intelligence to the court

Danu has joined the AO StartUps program to pilot its wearable gait analysis system for injury & performance analysis at Tennis Australia's National Tennis Academy.

The Irish start-up is breaking down the boundaries of unnatural lab-based analysis and making human movement measurable in the real world.

Its wearable platform captures the biomechanics of lower-limb function with clinical-grade accuracy, in training, competition and clinical settings, giving practitioners and athletes objective insight into the movement patterns that drive performance, recovery and long-term health.

“Tennis places extraordinary demands on the lower limb. Every serve, every split step, every change of direction loads the foot, ankle and knee in ways that are critical to both performance and injury risk, yet until now that loading has been largely invisible to clinicians and too invasive for athletes,” said Danu CEO Oisin Lennon.

“Joining AO StartUps gives us the opportunity to change that. Working with the Tennis Australia Performance team, we can bring objective, real-time measurement to the movements that define tennis, and give practitioners the insight they need to protect athletes and push performance further.”

From elite sport to hospital rehabilitation and pharmaceutical research, Danu is building the movement intelligence layer that makes real-world human movement clinically actionable for the first time.

By delivering real-world biomechanical measurement, Danu helps practitioners better understand how athletes move, recover and respond to training loads.

As sport continues to embrace data-driven decision making, Danu's technology has the potential to provide a deeper understanding of movement than ever before, helping athletes, clinicians and coaches make more informed decisions both on and off the court.

The full cohort of AO StartUps companies will be announced throughout 2026.
