Much like an F1 car, there are so many parts of a tennis player’s engine that need to be developed and engineered for their career to thrive.
A critical area of importance is spinal health and mobility with the modern game placing hefty demands on a player’s back, mobility and joint mechanics.
Backsync is revolutionising spinal health with a range of innovative active therapy and mobility products and will pilot their inaugural SEG-B product as part of Tennis Australia’s AO StartUps program.
Designed to restore spinal mobility and control, the SEG-B combines real-time feedback with segmental training, making it a game-changer for athletes, therapists, and individuals seeking optimal spine health.
“At Backsync, we’re focused on creating active therapy tools that bridge the gap between assessment and performance,” said Backsync Co-Founder Khaled Akbery.
“The SEG-B is the first of these, by providing real-time feedback and targeting the spine at a segmental level, we’re changing how people approach spinal health and training.”
The technology will enable the TA Performance team to specifically train deep core and spinal stabilisers which are critical to pro performance.
“Backsync enables us to enhance our performance program with a tailored core and spinal loading program developed for each athlete which longer-term aims to reduce lumbar stress injuries that are common in our sport” said Tennis Australia’s Applied Science Manager & Senior Physical Performance Coach Alistair Murphy.
The full cohort of AO StartUp companies will be announced in the leadup to AO 2025.
