AO embraces event entry system of the future

  • ausopen.com

The future of major events is on show at the Australian Open this week as AO Express Entry moves fans through the gates of Melbourne Park more efficiently than ever before.

The AO is the first Australian event to trial the brand-new system which uses biometrics-based facial authentication technology for a quicker and more convenient entry experience for fans.

AO Express Entry technology gives guests the option to link their existing Ticketmaster accounts to a selfie which then takes the place of a digital ticket, enabling them to sail through entry points with a simple facial scan.

“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at the Australian Open, and we expect AO Express Entry to be a game changer as we continually look for new ways to provide a seamless experience for our fans,” Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley said.

“With support from Ticketmaster, the AO is the first event in Australia to trial this cutting-edge technology, which we expect to roll out further at AO 2025.”

Ticketmaster Australia Managing Director, Gavin Taylor said, “Our partnership with the Australian Open underpins our shared vision to embrace new and innovative ways to deliver an unforgettable experience to all fans”.

AO Express Entry has been enabled from Thursday 25 January as an opt-in option for selected corporate guests through the premium experiences entry points.

Protecting fan’s privacy is a priority and AO Express Entry is powered by third-party provider Wicket facial authentication software, to protect, encrypt, and securely store data.

Ticketmaster builds tools and provides services to support the ticketing strategy and overall fan experience of Tennis Australia for the Australian Open.
