Fucsovics solves Querrey

Having reached the quarterfinal at Wimbledon and semifinal at the US Open in 2017, Sam Querrey will not be enjoying another deep run in Melbourne, out to world No.80 Marton Fucsovics 6-4 7-6(6) 4-6 6-2 in the second round. Querrey joins compatriots and fellow Top 16 seeds Jack Sock and John Isner out the exit door.

Fucsovics becomes the first Hungarian to reach the third round at the Australian Open since Zoltan Kuharsky in 1983, another milestone in a week full of them. He had never won a Grand Slam match before this week, falling in the first round in his three previous outings. Now he can count wins over both Radu Albot and Querrey, the latter marking his first victory over a Top 20 opponent. His career-best win before today came against No.32 Karen Khachanov in Davis Cup last year.

Fucsovics was an incredibly talented junior. He won the boys' singles title at Wimbledon in 2010, while reaching the semifinals at both the Australian Open and US Open that same year.
