Stats leaders and milestones amongst elite eight

Within a flash Australian Open 2021 has surged into the second week. 

16 singles players have set the bar exceptionally high with sensational tennis across Melbourne Park.

Now we are at the half way mark, let’s take a look at some of the stats and landmarks from the quarter-finalists.

0 - number of sets dropped by Ash Barty, Jennifer Brady, Karolina Muchova and Rafael Nadal at AO 2021 thus far. 

1 - Should Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev record another upset against Dimitrov, he will become the first man in the Open Era to reach the semi-finals on his Grand Slam debut.

2 - 18th seed Grigor Dimitrov is seeking his second semi-final ticket at Melbourne Park, losing to Rafael Nadal in 2017. 

3 - For the first time in the Open Era, Russia has three men in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam. Qualifier Karatsev joins Top 10 duo Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev in the last eight.

8 - AO 2020 semi-finalist Alexander Zverev is bidding to defeat a Top 10 player at a Grand Slam for the first time on court against defending champion Novak Djokovic.

13 - Dimitrov has saved 13/16 break points, the best showing amongst the men with a 81% rate. 

18 - Karatsev, set to crack the Top 100 after his breakout major, has struck the most return winners. 

18 - number of matches US open champion Naomi Osaka has won in a row. Medvedev is also riding an 18-win streak after lifting the Paris Masters, ATP Finals and ATP Cup silverware. 

31 - Osaka tops the aces chart on the women’s side. 

35 - Free spirit Hsieh Su-Wei is the oldest player in the Open Era to make her Grand Slam quarter-final bow.

39 - Djokovic is bidding to reach the semi-finals at a major for the 39th time is his 63rd Grand Slam appearance.

42 - Leading the way, Dimitrov with the highest men’s percentage of return games won. 

45 - net points won by Nadal out of 54 transfers up the court.

54 - Serena Williams is featuring in her 54th Grand Slam last eight duel, tied for first with Chris Evert. Can she book a 40th major semi-final?

83 - success rate of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Zverev and Rublev with first serve percentage of points won. Standing out, Tsitsipas has won 47 of 48 service games thus far. 

83 - tournament best percentage break points saved by Brady, who has also topped the charts commanding matches by winning 32 of 34 service games.

96 - Jessica Pegula has struck in excess of 20 winners in each match so far. The in-form American hit 31 to dispatch Elina Svitolina in the fourth round. 

100 - landmark Grand Slam wins for Simona Halep following the world No.2’s thrilling comeback against Iga Swiatek. 

114 - Karatsev’s current ranking, who has already defeated two seeded players on his way to becoming the lowest-ranked man to reach the quarter-finals since Patrick McEnroe at AO 1991. 

202 - the fastest serve (km/h) in the women’s event which was launched by Serena Williams. 

300 - Eight-time champion Djokovic advanced to the last eight with a determined four set passage past Milos Raonic, notching up the Serbian’s 300th victory in major action.
