Grand Slam champions Carlos Alcaraz, Victoria Azarenka and Daniil Medvedev headline the Day 9 schedule as they target quarterfinal spots at Australian Open 2024.

Carlos Alcaraz will return to Rod Laver Arena on Monday night at Australian Open 2024 on a bumper day at Melbourne Park.

The world No.2 and reigning Wimbledon champion faces Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic for a place in his first AO quarterfinal.

While Alcaraz cruised past a physically compromised Juncheng Shang in the third round, Kecmanovic was forced to save two match points before recovering to beat AO 2023 semifinalist Tommy Paul in five.

Kecmanovic – who pushed Alcaraz to the limit in their only prior meeting at the 2022 Miami Open – also battled for five sets in his second-round win over Jan-Lennard Struff.

Earlier on Day 9, two-time champion Victoria Azarenka opens Rod Laver Arena’s order of play when she takes on qualifier Dayana Yastremska, a former world No.20.

That match will be followed by third seed Daniil Medvedev taking on Nuno Borges, the Portuguese world No.69 who surprised in-form Grigor Dimitrov on Saturday night.

Following Alcaraz under lights will be 12th seed Zheng Qinwen, the Chinese star seeking her second straight major quarterfinal when she takes on Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin.

The Margaret Court Arena schedule opens with a clash between resurgent Elina Svitolina and Czech teenager Linda Noskova, who stunned world No.1 Iga Swiatek in the upset of the tournament so far.

They’re followed by the fourth-round clash between Cameron Norrie and Alexander Zverev, not before 4pm.

There are more fourth-round singles matches to play out over at John Cain Arena.

French wildcard Arthur Cazaux will aim to continue his fairytale run against No.9 seed Hubert Hurkacz before Italian pocket rocket Jasmine Paolini takes on Anna Kalinskaya.
