AO StartUps spotlight: Foodini

  • ausopen.com

The fan experience at the summer of tennis events is purposefully crafted to cater for everyone and providing food options for those with dietary needs is a crucial component.

Foodini is on a mission to make dining with dietary needs easier and safer and as part of AO StartUps their technology was piloted by fans during the United Cup in Sydney.

Born in Australia, the app analyses the ingredients of menus from over 9,000 restaurants and matches suitable menu items to diners based on their personalised dietary profile.

"As a parent of kids with dietary needs myself, it is very fulfilling to see the positive impact our solution provides to over a third of the population that has to consider dietary needs when making a food choice multiple times a day,” said Foodini founder Timo Kugler.

“Partnering with an organisation like the AO is a tremendous opportunity to introduce our solution to a new audience and allow them to make confident food choices across the amazing culinary offering at the Tennis Australia events."

More than 120,000 users have already created their personal profile from 180+ diets and allergens and with the recent launch in California, the app continues to accelerate its growth and impact.

“The food offerings are a crucial pillar at our major events and Foodini’s technology will make it easier for our fans to make informed choices,” said Tennis Australia Director of Innovation Machar Reid.

The full cohort of AO StartUp companies will be announced in the leadup to AO 2025.
