The Last Time Nick Kyrgios played on Rod Laver Arena
2016 - It has been two years since Nick Kyrgios last played on the premier court at the Australian Open. In 2016 it was also in a third round against Czech Tomas Berdych, who accounted for the Australian in four sets. The 22-year-old has only played on Rod Laver Arena on one other occasion, in the 2015 quarterfinals against Andy Murray, where the Scot eased through in straight sets. Kyrgios will hope to make it third time lucky against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Day 5.
The Last Time a female as young as Marta Kostyuk made the fourth round at the Australian Open
1996 - The young Ukrainian has taken the world by storm this January, and at 15 years and six months she could be the youngest female to make it through to the fourth round of the Australian Open since Swiss legend Martina Hingis made her first run to a Grand Slam quarterfinal in Melbourne aged 15 years and three months. Kostyuk takes on compatriot Elina Svitolina on day 5 in an attempt to achieve the feat.
The Last Time a Georgian male made the fourth round of a Grand Slam
2006 - Nikoloz Basilashvili has a chance to make history for his nation on Day 5 as he takes on Brit Kyle Edmund for a place in the fourth round. Not only would it be his best result in a major, he would also be the first Georgian male to make the last 16 of a Grand Slam since Irakli Labadze at Wimbledon in 2006 where he fell to eventual runner-up Rafael Nadal. Basilashvili will be the first Georgian player to progress to the fourth round since the 2012 US Open, when Anna Tatishvili reached the milestone while representing the European nation before she switched allegiances to America in 2014.

The Last Time a Thai player reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam
2008 - After her stunning victory over Belinda Bencic on Day 3, Thai qualifier Luksika Kumkhum will have more history in her sights when she takes on Croatian Petra Martic on Friday. The 24-year-old will be striving to become the first player from Thailand to reach the round of 16 at a major since Tamarine Tanasugarn at Wimbledon in 2008. Tanasugarn would make the quarterfinals before being defeated by eventual champion Venus Williams.
The Last Time Kateryna Bondarenko reached the fourth round at a major
2009 - The 31-year-old Ukrainian has only been to the fourth round of a Grand Slam once before, and that was her quarterfinal run at the US Open back in 2009. Bondarenko would suffer a straight sets defeat at the hands of Belgian Yanina Wickmayer that year, but she will be striving to return to the round of 16 in Melbourne against 19th seed Magdalena Rybarikova on Day 5.
The Last Time a player from Great Britain besides Andy Murray progressed to a Grand Slam quarterfinal
2004 - Andy Murray has been the pioneer for British tennis for most of this new millennium, but before the three-time Grand Slam champion burst onto the scene Tim Henman was the face of the sport in the UK. He is also the last British player other than Murray to make a Grand Slam quarterfinal, which was back at the 2004 US Open where the serve-volleyer reached the semifinals for the final time in a major, falling to Roger Federer in straight sets. Kyle Edmund is the last remaining hope for the United Kingdom, but only has to win two matches against unseeded players to reach the final eight in Melbourne.
The Last Time Dimitrov met Rublev
2017 US Open - The last, and only time, Grigor Dimitrov and Andrey Rublev have met on tour was in the second round of the US Open last year. Dimitrov was the heavy favourite against a 19-year-old world No.53 but the odds did not mean anything, as the young Russian dispatched the Bulgarian in straight sets en route to his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal. Dimitrov has since moved to world No.3 and won the ATP World Tour Finals and revenge will be on his mind when the pair meet on Rod Laver Arena on Day 5 of the Australian Open.
The Last Time a Belgian female reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam
2013 - Continuing a trend of nations that could break their Grand Slam hoodoos here in Melbourne, Belgium are another that could finally have a player return to the fourth round of a major. The recent results from the Belgian females have not been anywhere close to what Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters produced, so much so that the nation has not had a representative in the fourth round of a major since Kirsten Flipkens at Wimbledon in 2013. This Australian Open gives Elise Mertens the chance to break the drought as she takes on Alize Cornet on Day 5 at Melbourne Park.
The Last Time Ivo Karlovic reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal
2009 - It has been a long time since the Croatian giant reached the final eight of a major, and he has only done it once in his career. That result came back at Wimbledon in 2009 where Dr Ivo’s serve was almost impossible to return on the grass courts of the All England Club. He was only halted by a rampant Roger Federer, who would go on to win the title for a sixth time. The 38-year-old Karlovic must still win two matches to reach the quarters in Melbourne, but both opponents will be unseeded. If his serve is on song, who’s to say it can’t happen?
