Sandgren shocks Thiem to reach last eight 

Tennys Sandgren had never won three straight Tour-level matches before this tournament. He’s just won his fourth in a row to reach the Australian Open quarterfinal, beating No.5 seed Dominic Thiem 6-2 4-6 7-6(4) 6-7(9) 6-3. Remarkable stuff from the 26-year-old. I mean, that was his first ever five-set match! 

It's hard to remember the last time someone this unheralded reached the last eight at a major.
