Catch your favourite sports films at the Australian Open. 

In a Grand Slam first, fans can mix up their tennis action with a daily dose of sports films at the inaugural AO Sports Film Festival.

During the 14 days of the tournament, daily screenings will take place at three unique locations; AO Tennis Club at Birrarung Marr, The Glasshouse and AO Ballpark. 

The AO Tennis Club, part of the free AO Festival at Birrarung Marr, offers film-lovers a unique ‘silent cinema’ experience on the custom built blue tennis court. Grab your headsets and get ready for an amazing open-air cinema with city views.

  • Screenings daily: 7:00pm (1:00pm from Jan 25-27)

The Glasshouse features a curated selection of new releases and all-time classics. Complete with a lush bar and lounge, escape the heat with a screening at the Glasshouse Cinema. Get ready for Pre-release screenings, Premiere’s, and film industry special presentations.

  • Screenings daily: 5:30pm (3:00pm from Jan 25-27).

The Emirates Family Sanctuary at AO Ballpark will screen family friendly films and nostalgic childhood favourites. Parents and children will delight in films like Cool Runnings, Space Jam and Kung Fu Panda. Look out for the Looney Tunes characters when they stop by for the Space Jam screenings on 15 & 23 January! 

  • Screenings daily: 15 – 18 Jan 4:00pm, 19 – 27 Jan 10:15am & 4:00pm 


Glasshouse & Ballpark screenings:  Accessible via an Australian Open 2019 ground pass or stadium ticket.

Note, no reserved seating. Screenings will be first come first served until venues reach capacity. Arrive early to secure your spot!



The AO Sports Film Festival is committed to being accessible to all.

For people who are deaf, hard of hearing or hearing impaired, we recommend screenings with Open Captions. Films in the program with (OC) will be shown with Open Captions.

For people who are blind or vision impaired, we recommend the AO Tennis Club screenings. Headphones are provided for every screening, offering the audience a superior audio experience without external noise pollution.  

The Glasshouse, AO Tennis Club & AO Ballpark screening areas are accessible for people who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
