Nadal, Svitolina and Wozniacki headline RLA on Day 3

  • Tennis Australia

Top seed Rafael Nadal returns to Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, rounding out a red-hot day session when he takes on Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer.

The world No.1 and 2009 AO champion has won all four of his meetings with Mayer, most recently in the third round of his triumphant 2017 US Open campaign.

Nadal’s match will be preceded by two other top-four seeds in second-round action: first No.4 seed Elina Svitolina faces Czech Katerina Siniakova before Caroline Wozniacki, the No.2 seed, takes on Croatia’s Jana Fett.

The youngsters dominate proceedings on Margaret Court Arena – and they don’t come any younger than 15-year-old reigning Australian Open junior champion Marta Kostyuk, up against Aussie wildcard Olivia Rogowska. Denis Shapovalov follows on against No.15 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga before French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, the No.7 seed, faces Ying-Ying Duan.
